Workforce training assistance in Virginia is provided
through the Virginia Department of Business Assistance’s Virginia Jobs Investment
Program (VJIP). VJIP provides customized recruiting and training services to companies
that are creating new jobs or experiencing technological change. The Department
of Business Assistance assigns one state point-of-contact to coordinate all the
resources available to your company. Among your partners will be Virginia’s educational
and vocational institutions, Workforce Development Centers, Employment Service
Providers and more.
Each year, DBA ask its VJIP program clients for feedback on its program and services. As part of a continuous improvement activity, the client input is used in enhancing the programs and services offered to Virginia businesses.
- 96% of clients rated the program excellent or good when it comes to ease of use
- 98% of clients rated the program excellent or good when it comes to being responsive to their needs
- 98% of our clients rated the overall program excellent or good
- 100% of our clients would recommend the program to another company
“I have had the opportunity to work with the folks from Workforce Services on several occasions. I have always found them to be very professional yet very helpful and responsive to Virginia’s growing business needs. I assure you that the Workforce Services proposal, along with other state and local incentives, was very important in Wytheville Technologies’ decision to expand in Virginia rather than moving to another state.”
- Larry R. Corvin, Manager, Finance & Human Resources, Wytheville Technologies, Inc.
“Workforce Services has and continues to help us attract and retain the best-qualified employees. As a fiscally-conservative taxpayer who abhors waste, I can say without reservation that this is a very good use of state funds and proves that Virginia is serious about attracting and retaining manufacturing business.”
- Chip Dollins, Vice President of Operations, Service Center Metals
“The Workforce Services program has enabled SAIC to invest more resources in Virginia to find and keep the technical talent that is key to our business. We greatly value this private/public partnership.”
- Sean Sullivan, Deputy Director for Human Resources, SAIC
“I have been amazed to find how easy it is to get going, how easy it is to get help, and how easy it is to get reimbursed. I was skeptical, anticipating bureaucracy and red-tape. I have seen neither. We love it.”
- Kelly Woolwine, President, Atlantic Credit and Finance, Inc.
“We have found Virginia’s Workforce Services program’s personnel and attitudes excellent to work with. We had a large retraining requirement here, with ‘Lean Manufacturing’ and implementation of a new business practices software system. We could not have provided all the training if it were not for the availability and accessibility of training funds from the Commonwealth of Virginia.”
- Edward Zamer, VP - Human Resources, Hubbell Lighting, Inc.
“We would recommend this program to all eligible employers. It combines direct economic cost reimbursement, in addition to training and other administrative services, without requiring so much time and effort that the benefits aren’t worth the effort needed to receive them, as has been the case with many previous state or federal programs in my past experience.”
- Trevor “Pat” Roe, Director of Human Resources, Trinity Packaging Corp.
“The interest the Workforce Services program takes in supporting current and new businesses and their help making businesses more competitive speaks well of the partnership between the government and private sector. This kind of partnership will be of significant value to the success and growth of businesses in Virginia.”
- Ali Khan, Plant Manager, Vinton Plant, Precision Fabrics Group, Inc.
“This program is one of the few government programs that provides real incentives to businesses. There is a total lack of government red tape. The professional staff is a great asset to the program. We are dealing with real world people that understand real world problems.”
- Steven Mand, Human Resources Manager, O’Sullivan Industries
