COLLEGE DESCRIPTION:
J. Sargeant Reynolds Community College is located in Richmond, serving the City of Richmond and the counties of Goochland, Hanover, Henrico, Louisa, and Powhatan.

SUPERLATIVES/RECENT ACCOLADES

JSRCC is Virginia's newest community college (founded in 1972) and has grown into the third largest college in the Virginia Community College System. Reynolds offers a variety of programs and services to the residents of the City of Richmond and the counties of Hanover, Henrico, Goochland, Louisa and Powhatan. The college operates three comprehensive campuses located in rural, urban and suburban settings. Serving more than 18,000 credit students and 14,000 non-credit students through the Community College Workforce Alliance, J. Sargeant Reynolds Community College provides access to education that develops individuals for employment and career advancement, prepares students for successful transfer to colleges and universities, promotes personal enrichment and lifelong learning, and builds a skilled workforce that contributes to regional economic development.

CURRENT INDUSTRY TRAINING PROGRAMS:
The Community College Workforce Alliance (CCWA) is the workforce development partnership between J. Sargeant Reynolds and John Tyler Community Colleges. CCWA serves the workforce and economic development needs in the Greater Richmond and Crater regions, assesses business training needs and then develops and delivers custom-designed and open enrollment workforce training programs.

CCWA meets the scheduling needs of businesses and individuals year-round.  Custom-designed programs and support services are available for corporate clients, government agencies and professionals seeking enhanced or new workplace skills.  CCWA maintains a strong bench of expert instructors with business knowledge and experience essential for your organization's workforce needs.

Training programs can be offered at the job site of many local employers or at CCWA’s training facilities and computer labs--equipped with the latest technology. Each solution developed for an organization is designed according to the company’s specifications (half-day workshops, year-long series of interactive learning sessions, or a team effort to provide a business consulting service).

Training includes these topics and much more:
CCWA offers a full range of courses and industry certifications in the areas of technology, quality systems and continuous improvement management systems, manufacturing, business management and supervision, customer service, business communication, project management, workplace leadership, mediation and dispute resolution, OHSA and safety training, ISO 9000, ISO 14000, and truck driver training.

CCWA is now a Microsoft® IT Academy offering three levels of training and certifications in the Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Access applications.

CURRENT INDUSTRIES SERVED:
CCWA’s customers include some of the country’s most-recognized corporate organizations in every industry including manufacturing, health care, finance and banking, service industries and government, ranging in size from fewer than 30 employees to more than 30,000.

In 2009, CCWA provided training to more than 14,000 individuals from nearly 1,000 employers including the following:  Genworth Financial, Altria, Rolls Royce, Philip Morris, DuPont, CarMax, Bon Secours Health System, Dominion, HCA, Honeywell, Kraft Foods, Tyson Foods, Verizon, and Pfizer and many other large and small organizations throughout the region and the nation.  CCWA also works with numerous state agencies and jurisdictional departments.

RESOURCES FOR TRAINING PURPOSES:
Fully-equipped training rooms and 20-station computer labs are available with the most current Microsoft™ suites and all the latest business software applications. CCWA provides training and services for any work shift requirements.

CCWA also assists local employers recruit and train employees with ACT's WorkKeys® system and Key Train® skills training program and warding the Virginia Career Readiness Certificate (CRC).
