Virginia’s Energy Industry employs more than 30,000 people.  The top three Energy sectors by employment are Fossil Fuel (9,400), Traditional Power Generation (7,900), and Nuclear (6,500).  These three sectors comprise 79% of Virginia’s Energy Industry employment.  Virginia’s Energy Industry covers traditional sectors such as power generation and mining, as well as emerging areas like smart grid technology and renewable fuels.  The economic output of Virginia’s Energy Industry is $16 billion.  Energy supports an additional $7 billion in economic activity in Virginia.

Education and Training
